Hello. How are you? The JPAC took the blog off, so I am creating a new one. Please post your thoughts here. I can assure you that this will not be taken off for as long as I am alive (I'm serious about that!).
My name is Jaron Breen. I am a JHS Student in the class of '09. I am also a member of the Jenkintown Middle/ High School Gay-Straight Alliance Club, working to promote tolerance amongst all persons.
Recently, the GSA attempted to make announcements this month honoring those famous people who are gay/ bisexual/ trans-gender. A few of the students and teachers went up to Mr. Roller, the principal, and "yelled" at him for letting us do that. So, we went up again the next day and rephrased the way we say that. Again, the students and teachers didn't like it. On the third day, we tried again. After more yelling at Mr. Roller, he went to the superintendent - Dr. Wade - and he went to the school board. They spoke with the school lawyer who said that this cannot occur. So, the school board said that we can no longer make those announcements. Furthermore, we wanted to peacefully protest on the front steps of the school, but they said no. So, we are protesting across the street.

This is very interesting. I would love to follow the story of a young GSA and see its feats and defeats. And, certainly, I would love to provide what help I can. If you continue to post undates periosically, I would be happy to provide advice and whatnot to help you as well. Hope to see more posts.
It's been a while since we've heard any kind of update. Please post another entry here soon.
We are basically inactive. This has long passed. I was hoping that this blog would be bigger - with comments similar to the JPAC blog (Bible excerpts, conservative comments, liberal comments, etc.). Thanks, though.
